What is a Pandora Battery?
A Pandora's battery (also known as JigKick, JigKick battery, pandora or TOOL) is a modified battery for the Sony Playstation Portable. Pandora Battery is a hacked battery that can be used to un-brick a bricked PSP.
A "bricked PSP" is a PSP that has something wrong with its firmware (its internal operating system). Because the PSP is now completely useless, and is considered only good as a paperweight or brick. A bricked PSP would normally have to be sent back to Sony for repair.
A Pandora's Battery allows the user to trigger what is referred to as a "service-mode reset" of the PSP, allowing you to reload the original or custom firmware. Service-mode resets are a capability of many electronics devices that operate with firmware, including cameras and cellular phones. Service-mode resets of this type usually involve intentionally short-circuiting electrical contacts of the device's battery.
